Dr. G grew up here in the Permian Basin, graduated from Buena Vista High School in Imperial, and studied speech and communication at Abilene Christian University, the University of Oklahoma, Harding University, and the University of Memphis. Dr. G has taught college courses in speech and communication for more than 10 years, written for various publications, received honors from state and national communication associations, and spoken on communication topics for organizations on three continents.

In addition to teaching, research, writing, and professional speaking, Dr. G’s work history includes food service, retail business, emergency medicine, e-magazine editing, and various roles in nonprofit organizations.

Dr. Gaines enjoys running and other outdoor activities.
