The American Heart Association, Basic Life Support (BLS) course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. This course reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
Tailored for healthcare professionals and individuals requiring proficiency in CPR and fundamental cardiovascular life support techniques across diverse in-facility and prehospital environments, Basic Life Support (BLS) training is suitable for prehospital providers including EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, and hospital personnel. Upon successful course completion, students are awarded a course completion card valid for two years.

Before attending Safety Leadership, participants must have completed an orientation (e.g., Day 1 Fundamentals, Rig Pass, SafeLand, or any orientation meeting operator requirements).
IADC strongly recommends completing the Basin United Fundamentals Safety Orientation (Day 1) before enrolling in the Basin United Safety Leadership (Day 2), especially for those unfamiliar with the "12 Life Saving Actions" covered in the Fundamentals (Day 1) class.
