Midland College volleyball team partners with R.O.P.E. Youth nonprofit for annual book driveApril 05, 2024
Midland, Texas: The Midland College Lady Chaps volleyball team and coaches have partnered with R.O.P.E Youth, a nonprofit redirection program aimed at reducing recidivism, on a book drive for children and young people living in Midland. The book drive, an initiative led by MC Head Volleyball Coach Tammie Jimenez and R.O.P.E. Youth Founder and Executive Director Karl Boroski, will run through April 30 and aims to collect books for students aged 5-15. “Everything we do here at Midland College starts with an ‘education first’ mindset,” said Coach Tammie Jimenez. “We feel it is important to teach our players the skills of the game and the value of a good education while also instilling in them a sense of community and service. This book drive we created with R.O.P.E. Youth checks every single one of those boxes, and we could not be more excited to help provide literacy access and opportunities for the youth here in Midland.” Books can be dropped off on the Midland College campus in the Physical Education building (near the tennis courts), rooms 106 or 107, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. A campus map can be found here. “When I started R.O.P.E. Youth, I always envisioned working with local institutions like Midland College to help support the community that they serve,” said Boroski. “I am so grateful for Coach Jimenez and her team for their dedication to the education of the young people of Midland, Texas.” To learn more about R.O.P.E.
