Proctored ExamsDistance Learning
What are Proctored Exams?
Some Midland College online classes require proctored exams and quizzes. A proctored exam is a supervised test. An instructor or an approved proctor monitor the student during the test. The proctor ensures that the rules and requirements of the exam are followed.
Please check the course syllabus or contact the instructor directly to learn about the proctoring requirements and options for the course.
Proctoring Options
Please reach out to your instructor for more information on testing options available, which include the following:
LRC Exam Center
Located in the LRC (Library) at Midland College, students enrolled in a MC Class can
take their exams and quizzes in a proctor environment. There is no fee for this service.
Approved Testing Center
If you are unable to test on campus, you could test at a testing center local to you. This could be at a college, university, or testing center. Your instructor must approve of the location prior to test administration. The student is responsible for any fee associated with this proctoring option.
Respondus Monitor
This is an online option which may be used in conjunction with Respondus LockDown
Browser. Respondus Monitor requires the use of a webcam and reliable, high-speed Internet
connection. Your instructor would set up the test, and it can be taken from anywhere.
This service is free for MC Students.
Individual Proctor
Your instructor must approve prior to test administration if the student has an individual
proctor outside of a testing center. The student is responsible for any fee associated
with this proctoring option.
ProctorU
This is online proctoring which requires the use of a webcam and reliable, high-speed
Internet connection. The student is responsible for the fee associated with this proctoring
option, which is based on length of the test.
Need to take a test from another institution?
other tests can be taken through the main Midland College Testing Center.
