This course covers the fundamental terms and concepts of acquiring right of way and utility easements on private and commercial land. Participants will cover the daily functions of a right of way agent working in the oil and gas shale plays and the Permian Basin. This course also covers key topics such as Project Planning, Route Selection, Document preparation, Land Title Research, Negotiations and Procedures, and more.

Taught by a Certified Professional Landman with more than 35 years of experience in the industry, this course will provide students with hands-on experience in understanding basic land and legal concepts essential to becoming “landwise,” whether personally or professionally.
Directed from a land perspective, classroom discussion and course materials will teach preparation and interpretation of basic oil and gas instruments, calculation of gross and net revenue interest, due diligence and negotiation in the purchase and sale of producing properties, environmental issues and regulatory field rules which impact the industry, as well as land considerations in horizontal drilling.
